In the State of Kentucky a Plumbing License is required for any person that wants to perform work as a journeyman or master plumber in Wisconsin. The Journeyman and Master Plumbing Licenses are issued by the Kentucky Division of Plumbing of the State Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction after passing the required State Plumbing Exam.
Requirements for a Kentucky State Plumbing License
No person, firm or corporation shall construct, install or alter any plumbing without first having procured a plumbing construction permit from the Kentucky Division of Plumbing.
However, plumbing permits can be issued to licensed master plumbers or to homeowners for plumbing in their own personal residences.
All plumbing work, other than that performed by a homeowner with his/her own permit for his property, must be installed by either a licensed journeyman plumber under the supervision of a licensed master plumber, or a licensed master plumber.
Journeman Plumber License Requirements
- Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Applicants must have at least 4 years of experience as an apprentice plumber.
- Applicants must be of good moral character.
- Applicants need to pass the written examination.
Master Plumber License Requirements
- Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Applicants must maintain a general liability insurance in an amount not less than two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) and submits proof of compliance with workers' compensation and unemployment insurance laws of the Commonwealth.
- Applicants must be of good moral character.
- Applicants need to pass the written examination.
