GREEN BAY, WI -- The annual Heat's On Project assists low-income homeowners. It  brings together local union members, contractors, vendors, community service agencies and fire departments to ensure the safety of heating systems for low-income elderly and disabled residents at the onset of colder weather.

The 19-year-old plumbing & heating program was initially focused in Brown County Wisconsin but has expanded to include residents in Brown, Fond du Lac and Outagaime counties. The program now also services residents in northern Winnebago County.

Volunteers with the program range from heating and cooling specialists, to plumbers and steamfitters in construction who assist with the visits that would cost several hundred dollars without the donation of time and materials.
