Carnarvon, Ontario (PRWEB) February 02, 2012 -- It has been more than five years since Chief Blair Arthur of the Municipality of Shuniah Fire Department contacted Heat-Line Corporation (http://www.heatline.com), a Canadian company that specializes in state of the art freeze protection solutions, looking for help with a serious and potentially dangerous problem that plagues fire departments in places where temperatures fall below freezing. Chief Arthur wanted to find a way to keep his department’s fire trucks, pumper tanks and portable pumps from freezing during the cold winter months in Shuniah, a northern Ontario community located near Thunder Bay. Within days of being contacted, Heat-Line had developed a freeze protect solution called the Arthur Heater Kompensator, named after Fire Chief Arthur. Five years later, the chief is still impressed with how well the product works.
At the time Chief Arthur put in his call to Heat-Line, he had no idea how quickly the company’s product designers would develop a custom solution to meet his request. After discussing the problem with Heat-Line staff, it only took a few days before two custom Kompensator® freeze protection systems, were built, delivered, and up and running. According to Chief Arthur, the Kompensator system has been working flawlessly and continuously ever since. It is an “awesome product,” says Chief Arthur. “We have equipped two tankers now. We leave the freeze protection system on all the time and never think or worry about it. It has never let us down. As rural fire fighters, we could never reliably operate without it. It’s peace of mind knowing that our only weak link on the tankers is covered by Heat-Line and it always works. Problem solved,” says Chief Arthur.
Made specifically for the fire fighting industry, the Arthur Heater Kompensator is a low voltage, high performance freeze protection system for fire trucks and portable pumps. It employs conductive polymer core technology that enables the valves to be completely heated and insulated. The discharge valve on tankers and pumper trucks with front mount pumps are particularly vulnerable to freezing. Kompensator applies the required energy from the vehicle’s electrical system, minimizing loads while providing incredible reliability.
“We are always looking for ways to employ our conductive-polymer heating cable technology in other freeze protection applications and are very pleased how well the Arthur Heater Kompensator has been received by fire departments, especially those in rural areas that rely on their equipment to be in good working order,” states Lorne Heise, CEO of Heat-Line Corporation, from his manufacturing facility in Haliburton, Ontario. “Freezing water can quickly wreak havoc on any outdoor equipment that is vulnerable to freezing. For firefighters, equipment failure due to freezing is simply unacceptable and dangerous. It’s good to know that in some small way we are helping fire departments do their job protecting lives and property,” adds Heise.
