Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 21, 2013 -- Custom Air Products & Services (CAPS), a leading commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) company, announced today that it received the Silver Award at the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) 26th Annual Safety Excellence Awards Banquet in Galveston, Texas. This award recognizes Custom Air Products & Services’ safety achievements in the category of “Specialty Contractor Hard Crafts Small” and comes on the heels of the 2012 Bronze Award. Custom Air Products & Services was nominated for work performed at the DuPont LaPorte facility.
The HBR Safety Excellence Award process is a six-month long effort that begins with nomination by one of HBR’s client companies. Each nominee submits the required Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety data, copies of policies and procedures related to safe operations, as well as evidences of their best practices. Safety audits are then conducted in the field, and field employees interviewed and observed performing work, to ensure documented safety processes are actually implemented in daily work activities.
In making the announcement, CAPS CEO Taylor Norris stated, “We are so pleased to accept this HBR recognition for our efforts in creating and maintaining a culture of safety at Custom Air Products & Services. While our biggest reward comes, of course, with the continued safety of our employees, business partners, and the communities in which we operate, it is also nice, really nice, to receive industry recognition for our efforts.”
Since 1988 the HBR has been recognizing contractors for their outstanding safety performance. The organization believes that the Greater Houston Area contractors involved in this award process have developed world class safety programs and have significantly better safety records than any other group of contractors in the world.
“The qualification and evaluation progress was comprehensive and a bit time-consuming,” stated Custom Air Products & Services Safety Department Manager Robert Covington, “but it was definitely time well spent. Every CAPS employee had a part in making this happen. While our better-than-industry-average safety statistics provide proof of our company’s focus on safety, this annual process of reviewing safety processes and procedures ensures that we maintain that safety culture but are also continuously improving in these areas.”
