Plumbers Putty is a substance that that can be molded and shaped and is used to create a watertight seal around a faucet or drain pip. Plumber's putty is sold at at hardware and DIY centers around the country and is considered one of the most basic plumbing tools.

Plumbers putty can contain various different types of ingredients, many manufacturers use a type of clay as the base ingredient in combination with linseed oil.

Because plumber’s putty is relatively cheap and very easy to use the plumbing putty is often used when plumbing fixtures and pipes are installed or replaced. The plumber's putty is applied by spreading the substance around the threads on both pipes and then joining the pipes together.
